The DeWalt 849 features an 8 amp, all ball-bearing motor for a very long life. This polisher is built to be the first and last circular polisher you-ll ever need. At 8.25 lbs., the 849 is a little heavier than the Makita making the motion more deliberate and controlled. Many professionals prefer this because the weight of the machine requires them to apply less pressure, if any at all. The heat-treated, precision-cut gears mean smooth operation, even under pressure. The external brush caps make servicing the DeWalt 849 easy, should it ever need it.The DeWalt 849 Polisher has a speed dial conveniently located on top of the handle so you can adjust the speed without stopping or moving your hand. This dial sets the maximum speed of the pad. Set the maximum speed anywhere between 1000 and 3000 rpm. The trigger located towards the back of the machine allows you to gradually increase your speed up to the set maximum speed.
