Product Description
HIPOT Insulation Testers 115v, 50-60 Hertz, 7 Position Voltage Selection, No Automatic Breakdown Feature
Crown high voltage, transformer type hipot insulation testers are safe, easy to use for quick, positive determination of grounds, shorts, and broken wires in motors, transformers and other low voltage equipment or wiring systems. A turn of the selector switch gives a selection of seven voltages; 500, 1080, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000 or 2500 volts calibrated to +/- 5% accuracy; NEMA recommendation for insulation test is twice normal voltage plus 1000 volts. Since this instrument has a capacity of 2500 volts, it readily accommodates all normal requirements.
Safety Selector Switch: The safety selector switch is a heavy-duty unit designed to prevent any possibility of shorts to tester-case or switch-knob.
Sealed Transformer: The transformer is completely sealed to reduce the possibility of shorting to the case. These units have ample capacity required for testing large motors or transformers. Thus preventing a large voltage drop, which might otherwise give a false test or indication.
To Test Insulation Between Conductor and Ground: Apply one point to clean portion of the frame so good contact is made and the other point to one end of each coil or wire in the apparatus or equipment under test. If the insulation withstands the test of voltage successfully, the indicating lamp is not affected. However, if the insulation breaks down to ground, the indicating lamp will dim.
Retractable Test Points: Self-retracting test points are concealed within fiber sleeves under spring tension. Operator presses fiber slide buttons to expose test prods. An outstanding safety feature which minimizes chance of accidental contact with points.
To Test Insulation between Coils Touch one point to the cleaned end of each of the other coils. Be sure that this test is made between each pair of coils.
Warning: Safety Training Required To Operate These Hipot Insulation Testers
